Written 12 December, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n I went to T’s, a long walk across a creek, with a board for a bridge. The board’s rotten and wiggles sickeningly as I cross. I must replace it.<\/p>\n Very fond of T and though our lives are so different we have a lot in common, but I have with everyone here. We talk the bay, with endless fascination. Everyone sees something different- birds, flowers, \u00a0solar power, machines that keep the place going, mud. T \u00a0is performing \u00a0in another state till March. He’ll miss the whole of his first summer of thongs and mangoes. I told him to allow me to come in a few days before his return. I’ll be like a retainer in a 19th century Russian novel, sent ahead of the Family to prepare the house, which probably meant really to get out the rats and snakes as well as, more respectably, air the sheets. Probably no-one mentioned the rats to the Family. \u00a0He said he loves the sultry weather. it’s true, it’s delicious.<\/p>\n
